How often does AC gas need refilling?
It should not need refilling at all. Refrigerant is not consumed the way fuel is — an air conditioner is a sealed loop, and the same gas circulates for the life of the unit. If yours is low, there is a leak. Any technician who tells you gas needs topping up annually as routine maintenance is either mistaken or selling you the same refill every year.
How do I know if I actually need gas or just a service?
Measurement, not guesswork. We check gas pressure during every service and record the reading. Low cooling with normal pressure means airflow — dirty coils or filters — and a service fixes it for a fraction of a refill. Ice on the pipe can mean either, which is exactly why it gets measured rather than assumed.
Can you convert my old R22 unit to R32?
Not practically, and we will tell you so rather than take the booking. R22 and R32 run at different pressures and need different lubricant and components; a conversion means replacing enough of the system that a new unit is usually the better value. We can still service and repair an R22 unit, and R22 remains available for refills.
