MCB Repairs in Delhi NCR

An MCB that trips is usually doing its job, and replacing it with a higher-rated one is the single most dangerous "fix" in Indian homes — it does not solve the fault, it just removes the protection. Our electricians find out which circuit is drawing the current and why, and only then decide whether the answer is a repair, a re-balance across circuits, or a board upgrade.

Common problems

What usually goes wrong — and what we actually do about it

The three faults we are called out for most often under mcb repairs, with the cause behind each.

  • The main MCB trips when several appliances run together

Usually because: Genuine overload — the connected load exceeds either the MCB rating or your sanctioned load.

What we do: Load is measured and redistributed across circuits; if you are over sanctioned load, we tell you so rather than up-rating the MCB.

  • The RCCB trips at random, often when it rains

Usually because: Earth leakage. Moisture ingress into an outdoor point, a balcony light or a geyser element is the usual culprit in NCR monsoon.

What we do: Circuits are split and leakage is traced to the offending point, which is then repaired or isolated.

  • One MCB trips the instant it is switched on

Usually because: A dead short on that circuit, or a failed appliance still plugged in on it.

What we do: Circuit is isolated, appliances removed, and the short traced to the point or the cable run.

What the booking includes

  • Isolating and testing each circuit to find which one is faulting
  • Insulation-resistance and load measurement at the board
  • MCB, RCCB or isolator replacement with correctly rated devices
  • Re-tightening and re-labelling every termination in the DB
  • Checking RCCB trip function with a test button and under load

What it does not cover

Listed so nothing appears on the bill that was not discussed up front.

  • Meter-side work, which is the discom's responsibility (BSES, TPDDL, DHBVN, NPCL, PVVNL)
  • Sanctioned-load increase applications
  • Rewiring of a faulty circuit found during diagnosis, if you want it done same visit

Before we arrive

A few things that make the visit faster

  • Note when it trips — at switch-on, under load, or at random. It genuinely narrows the diagnosis
  • Keep the area in front of the distribution board clear
  • Have your last electricity bill handy if sanctioned load may be the issue

FAQs

MCB Repairs — common questions

My MCB keeps tripping. Can you just put in a bigger one?

No, and you should be wary of anyone who offers to. The MCB is sized to protect the cable behind it. Fitting a higher-rated MCB lets that cable carry more current than it was designed for, and the failure mode is the cable overheating inside the wall where you cannot see it. We find the cause instead — usually overload on one circuit, which is fixable by redistributing it.

What is the difference between an MCB and an RCCB?

An MCB protects the wiring from overload and short circuit. An RCCB protects you from electric shock by detecting current leaking to earth — including through a person. They do different jobs, and a home should have both. Many older NCR distribution boards have MCBs only; adding an RCCB is one of the highest-value safety upgrades available.

Do you handle meter problems too?

No. Anything on the supply side of your meter belongs to your electricity distributor — BSES or Tata Power-DDL in Delhi, DHBVN in Gurugram, NPCL in Greater Noida, PVVNL in Noida and Ghaziabad. We work from your distribution board inwards, and we will tell you clearly when a problem is on their side so you are not paying us to fix something they must attend to.
